I loaded Gmail today to find that Google has now added colors and themes to the Gmail settings. The result is a drastic change in appearance for the site. I’m very happy with the new options. I chose the “new blue” theme and it looks fantastic.

I installed the new Ubuntu 8.10 on my laptop this weekend. I’m highly impressed. I’d been thinkering with the slightly older 8.04 release on my old desktop PC, with great results. However, since installing the new 8.10 on my laptop, I’m blown away at it’s power and speed. It’s now blazingly fast, and installing addons and extras is now easier than ever. The OS boots in no time flat, a point that I cannot emphasize enough. It runs with grace and speed all around. If you’re doubting Linux in any way, Ubuntu 8.10 will surely change your mind.
That said, I’m disappointed that the new OpenOffice 3.0 is not included, and to date, Firefox still sits at version 3.03, despite the fact that 3.04 was released nearly a week ago. I don’t understand those decisions, but the operating system as a whole is fantastic all around. Try it yourself.
I read on Ars Technia that, apparently, Apple has responded to a fan of the Mac Mini, saying to “be patient” on an update to the only neglected computer in their lineup. I made a post on this blog a long time ago announcing rumors of a possible update coming for the Mini. The fans of the Mini, myself included, are still waiting to this day. Apple has announced recently that no new hardware updates of any kind will come in the rest 2008. I can only hope that their response to the Mini fan is a sign that the machine won’t be killed off all together.
Finally! This year the US election results are nothing short of absolutely fantastic. I try to stay away from politics on my blog, so I’ll leave it at that. Hooray!
After years of enjoying many different varieties of beer, I have put to together my own personal beer review guide to present my findings to others. The list is a PDF file. Craig’s Beer Review.pdf
I wrote some feedback to Macworld magazine a couple of months ago in response to an article from their September 2008 issue. My feedback was printed in their new December 2008 issue! I have scanned the printed feedback column for all to see.
